  • Dr. Hazim Aal Ismail’s areas of expertise include autism spectrum disorder (ASD), applied behavior analysis, verbal behavior, social skills, and communication. Dr. Hazim Aal Ismail’s recent publications are Defining Specially Designed Instruction: A Systematic Literature Review, Integrating Augmentative and Alternative Communication into a Stay-Play-Talk Program in Preschool, and Teaching Social Initiations to Elementary-Aged Children with Autism: A Systematic Review.
  • Dr. Hazim Aal Ismail received his Ph.D. in Special Education from the University of Nevada, Las Vega (UNLV). He was a Graduate Assistant at the Department of Early Childhood, Multilingual, and Special Education at UNLV. While at UNLV, he taught several undergraduate- and graduate-level courses about behavior management techniques for students with disabilities, serving individuals with disabilities and their families, students with disabilities in general education settings, and speech and hearing therapy for classroom teachers.
  • Dr. Hazim Aal Ismail is a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst-Doctoral (BCBA-D) by the Board Analyst Certification Board (BACB) in the U.S. and an International Behavior Analyst (IBA) certified by the International Behavior Analysis Organization (IBAO).

Dr. Areej Ahmed

prof-imageAreej Ahmed has a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction in Special Education and a Master of Education in Special Education, both from Ohio University. She completed Her Bachelor of Arts at King Abdul-Aziz University in Sociology in 2007.

Under a curriculum and instruction umbrella, her research interests are situated within themes of special education advocacy, Autism, behavior disorders, and the clinical model of teacher preparation.

Dr. Ahmed has published in Teacher Preparation and Readiness, Autism, Computer-Assisted Instructions, and Assistive Technology.

At Ohio University, she received an Outstanding Teaching Record Reward from The Patton College of Education in 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. Dr. Ahmed was the recipient of The Ann Campbell Brown Distinguished Services Award from the Office of Nationally Competitive Awards in 2013-14. She was selected for The Outstanding Learning Community Instructor Award from the College of Art & Sciences in 2014 and 2015. Ohio University in 2015 nominated Dr. Ahmed for Provost’s Award Excellence in Teaching.
