Prof. Dr. Ahmed Barak is a distinguished scholar and expert in Criminal Law, with extensive academic and professional experience in comparative criminal justice, cybercrimes, and contemporary legal systems. His expertise spans both theoretical and applied dimensions of criminal law, allowing him to contribute meaningfully to legal education, research, and institutional development across the Arab region.
His research interests focus on modern criminal policy, digital and technological crimes, judicial systems, and the intersection between law and emerging technologies. Over recent years, he has published multiple peer-reviewed studies in regional and international journals indexed in Scopus and other reputable platforms. His research contributions address evolving legal challenges related to cybercrimes, digital evidence, criminal procedures, and international judicial cooperation.
Prof. Dr. Barak has extensive experience in university teaching, academic leadership, and administrative development. He has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses for many years and supervised numerous theses and dissertations. In addition to his academic work, he has held several senior positions, including serving as the former Attorney General of Palestine, which has strengthened his professional credibility and enriched his practical legal insights. He also actively contributes to academic committees, curriculum development, and quality assurance processes in higher education institutions.
He holds a PhD in Criminal Law, specializing in comparative criminal justice, from a recognized regional institution. Throughout his academic journey, he has been affiliated with several professional and research organizations and has maintained active profiles on major academic networks such as ORCID and ResearchGate. Prof. Dr. Barak has also received several recognitions for his academic excellence and contributions to legal research, in addition to participating in various funded research projects and development contracts.
Professor Ahmed Barak has authored and presented numerous peer-reviewed studies on criminal law, international criminal law, and emerging issues in digital and AI-related crimes. His recent research includes criminal liability in the Metaverse, AI in terrorist and medical applications, digital privacy and the right to be forgotten, e-criminal litigation, and the intersection of technology with human rights. His work has been recognized in international conferences across Jordan, Iraq, Oman, Algeria, and the UAE, and has contributed to advancing legal scholarship on contemporary criminal challenges.
