Women in Leadership in the Middle East Event

On Wednesday, April 9, 2025, the university’s Women’s Committee hosted an inspiring panel discussion in celebration of International Women’s Day. Held in the Auditorium, the event brought together students, faculty, and staff to honor the achievements of women and explore the theme of empowerment, resilience, and diversity in today’s society.

The panel featured four remarkable women from diverse backgrounds:

  • Noura Yassen, Founder of Lucial Events, shared her journey in the events industry and the importance of creativity and leadership.
  • Nataliya Selezneva, Entrepreneur and owner of NewDay.Agency and CRUSH Beauty Salon, highlighted the challenges and rewards of building a business in a competitive market.
  • Majida Abdullah AlShaikh Dawood, a student in CSGS, mother, and businesswoman, offered a powerful perspective on balancing education, motherhood, and entrepreneurship.
  • Dr. Malini Mittal Bishnoi, an academic and higher education professional, discussed the critical role of women in academia and research, emphasizing the need for inclusive educational practices.

Moderated by Ms. Karoline Molaeb and Dr. Sevan Adourian, the discussion was both insightful and deeply personal, touching on issues such as gender equity, personal growth, societal expectations, and the role of women in shaping the future.

The event provided a platform for authentic dialogue and community connection.

This celebration of International Women’s Day not only honored the strength and stories of women but also reaffirmed the university’s commitment to inclusivity and women’s empowerment .

Ms. Sana Hamdan participated in the TII Open Innovation 2025 Event 

Sana Hamdan, our Faculty Instructor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the American University of the Emirates, College of Education, recently returned from the TII Open Innovation 2025 event in Abu Dhabi, where global leaders in technology, business, and research gathered to discuss the future of open innovation.

Sana shared key takeaways from the event highlighting how open innovation drives growth through collaboration and shared knowledge, and discussed the approach of different companies, such as Amazon’s customer-obsessed culture and approach to experimentation, Google’s emphasis on community building and empowering individuals, ADQ’s focus on strategic alignment and calculated risk-taking, Wazoku’s belief in harnessing the collective innovative skill of the entire workforce, and research tools such as UAE Research Map and ResearchHub that are empowering the knowledge economy in the UAE.

The College of Education at AUE continuously empowers students to explore their own innovative ideas through INV 200, our hands-on Entrepreneurship and Innovation course, fostering innovation in teaching and learning for our future problem-solvers and leaders.

This event organized by Dr. Omar Sarhan and his students, highlighted the significance and beauty of the Arabic language, emphasizing its importance and role at both an individual and societal levels.

Enhancing Arabic Language Proficiency for University Students and Its Impact on the Job Market

This lecture presented by Mr. Ahmad Dasan, addressed an important topic about enhancing Arabic language proficiency among university students and how it can positively influence their job market opportunities. It focused on the importance of mastering Arabic language skills in both academic and professional contexts, highlighting the role of language as a key tool in communication, expression, and critical thinking. The lecture also explored the challenges students face in improving their language skills, particularly in the context of the dominance of foreign languages in certain disciplines and fields. Effective methods and strategies for improving Arabic language proficiency were presented, especially in writing and speaking, to meet the demands of the job market.

Visit to SEND Village – Special Education Field Trip

Students in the special education program participated in a meaningful visit to the SEND Village, a community designed to support individuals with special educational needs and disabilities. During the visit, students had the opportunity to engage in inclusive activities, explore accessible learning environments, and interact with residents and staff who shared their experiences.

The trip offered valuable real-world insights into adaptive living, vocational training, and supportive community practices. It also helped students develop empathy, social awareness, and an appreciation for diversity in learning and living styles.

This visit served as both an educational experience and a platform for reflection on inclusion and empowerment for people with diverse abilities.

SUNSHINE Seminar in Collaboration with AUE

The SUNSHINE Seminar, held in collaboration with the American University in the Emirates (AUE) College of Education, Special Education program, provided a dynamic platform to present research and projects focused on supporting Students of Determination.

The seminar brought together educators, researchers, and practitioners to share innovative strategies, inclusive practices, and evidence-based interventions aimed at enhancing the educational experience and well-being of students with special needs.

Participants showcased collaborative projects, case studies, and technological tools that empower students of determination in academic and social settings. The event emphasized the importance of inclusion, accessibility, and continued research in fostering equitable learning environments. The seminar marked a step forward in building a more inclusive educational landscape through shared knowledge and commitment.

Music Therapy Seminar: AUE & Omniyat Center for Rehabilitation

The Music Therapy Seminar, a collaborative initiative between the American University in the Emirates (AUE) and the Omniyat Center for Rehabilitation, highlighted the therapeutic power of music in supporting individuals with diverse needs.

The seminar brought together experts, therapists, and students to explore how music can be used as a tool for emotional expression, cognitive development, and physical rehabilitation. Practical demonstrations and case studies showcased the positive impact of music therapy on individuals with disabilities and mental health challenges.

This event emphasized the value of interdisciplinary collaboration in promoting holistic approaches to rehabilitation and well-being.

Celebrating Mental Health Day at AUE

The American University in the Emirates (AUE) proudly celebrated World Mental Health Day with a campus-wide event focused on raising awareness, reducing stigma, and promoting mental well-being among students and staff.

The event featured interactive workshops, expert talks, mindfulness activities, and wellness booths offering resources and support. Students actively participated in discussions about coping strategies, self-care, and the importance of seeking help when needed.

This initiative reflects AUE’s commitment to fostering a supportive and mentally healthy academic environment. 

Health Campaign and Autism Day at AUE

The American University in the Emirates (AUE) hosted a Health Campaign and Autism Awareness Day to promote physical well-being and support inclusivity for individuals with autism.

The health campaign featured free medical screenings, fitness activities, and wellness tips, encouraging students and staff to prioritize their health. In parallel, Autism Day included educational booths, creative displays, and interactive sessions aimed at raising awareness and understanding of autism spectrum disorders.

The event highlighted AUE’s dedication to creating a healthy, inclusive, and informed university community.

"Be Aware" Anti-Drug Awareness Event at AUE

The American University in the Emirates (AUE) organized the “Be Aware” event to raise awareness about the dangers of drug use and promote a drug-free lifestyle among students and the university community in collaboration with Erada center and Dubai Police.
The event featured informative workshops, expert talks from law enforcement and healthcare professionals, and interactive exhibits highlighting the physical, emotional, and legal consequences of drug abuse.

“Be Aware” aimed to empower students with knowledge and encourage them to make safe, healthy choices, reinforcing AUE’s commitment to student well-being and prevention education.
