Supplemental Advising
Supplemental Advising
The OASS provides multiple services to support students’ academic success. These support services include: a) advising; b) tutoring; c) mentoring; d) writing lab and the English program.
In coordination with the academic advisors, the office provides direct advising services to the students. This includes being the primary advising department for all students including, freshmen students, transferred students, and undergraduate students. The Office works closely with the academic advisors to ensure that student needs are met.
The supplemental academic support focuses specifically on an early intervention system to identify and support students facing academic challenges and provides them with one-on-one tutoring on specific class objectives.
One role of the OASS is to monitor the students’ educational progress and support students to overcome academic challenges, offer them tutoring sessions in courses that need support, and coordinate with their academic advisors to enroll them in recommended courses that will help them succeed in their desired degree programs.
