Dr. Mirna Saad is an Assistant Professor of Geography at the American University in the Emirates (AUE), specializing in Human Geography and Urban Planning. Her expertise spans sustainable city development, climate change adaptation, social and cultural geography, and urban master planning, where she combines academic research with professional practice through her consultancy work with GEO Global Engineering Office. She earned her PhD in Human Geography with a specialization in Urban Planning, and a master’s degree in economics and Geographic Development of Cities from the Lebanese University in Beirut.
Her research focuses on sustainable urban development, eco-innovation, smart city technologies, renewable energy integration, and the circular economy, with particular emphasis on aligning planning strategies with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Dr. Saad is also an active member of the Emirates Geographical Society, serving as Lecturer and Executive Director of Projects, and has collaborated with regional and international organizations including the League of Arab States and the Arab Organization for Administrative Development.
