Dr. Iman Merdas possesses over 20 years of extensive academic experience in teaching and education, spanning both secondary and higher education. Her work focuses on developing students’ skills and equipping them with the knowledge required to meet the demands of the modern era. She holds a PhD in History and a Diploma in Curriculum Development, qualifications that enable her to combine deep historical expertise with advanced competency in designing innovative and effective educational programs.

She began her career as Head of the Social Sciences Department at a private school, where she played a key role in curriculum development and guiding students to achieve their academic and intellectual potential. In 2014, she transitioned into higher education, integrating her pedagogical background with scholarly research to enhance the quality of education and enrich academic content.

Since joining the higher education sector, Dr. Merdas has been actively engaged in research, publishing numerous peer-reviewed studies in the fields of history, social sciences, and distance education. Among her most notable works are: The International Dimension of the Lebanese Issue – A Study of the American Role (1943–1990), The Reality of Distance Education from the Perspective of Higher Education Faculty – Dubai Case Study, and The Needs of History Education in Light of Digital Transformation. She has also contributed to authoring and publishing several books and scholarly articles addressing regional and international issues, migration, and digital education.

Dr. Merdas has participated in numerous international conferences and workshops aimed at promoting academic exchange and enhancing research skills. These include the International Conference for the Development of Scientific Research in Higher Education in Sharjah, the International Forum on Media and Terrorism at Al-Jazeera University, and the International Conference on Social and Human Sciences in Istanbul. She has also served on scientific committees for several academic events, such as the 29th International Conference on Digital Education at Kurdistan University and the Family Security in the Arab World Conference, held in collaboration with institutions in Palestine, Morocco, Malaysia, and Bahrain. Additionally, she has taken part in various specialized workshops on distance education, digital transformation, and modern research methodologies.
