ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- A Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
- English proficiency, proven by a valid IELTS score of at least 6.5 or a TOEFL iBT score of 79.
- A detailed research proposal (1,500–2,000 words) outlining your intended dissertation topic, objectives, research question(s), and methodological approach.
- Two letters of recommendation (academic or professional).
- A successful admissions interview conducted by the doctoral committee.
- While not mandatory, professional or policy experience in security, diplomacy, or development is considered a strong advantage.

Comprehensive Exam
0 CREDIT HOURS
Students will complete written and oral examinations to demonstrate their mastery of core and elective coursework, as well as their readiness for dissertation research. Students must pass the comprehensive exam before starting their thesis. If students fail the comprehensive exam, they will have one opportunity to retake it after one month.
