Dear students, esteemed colleagues, and distinguished guests,
It is my great honor and privilege to welcome you to the College of Security and Global Studies (CSGS) at the American University in the Emirates (AUE). As Dean of this distinguished College, I am personally honored to welcome you and to share the vision, dedication, and academic excellence that define our CSGS faculty and staff.
The College of Security and Global Studies is a unique College, the only one of its kind in the region, dedicated to the integration of theory and practice in the fields of security, intelligence, diplomacy, and strategic studies. Our mission is to foster an intellectually rigorous, innovative, and globally engaged academic environment that prepares students to think strategically, act decisively, and lead ethically in an ever-evolving security landscape.
Our faculty members are highly experienced professionals and distinguished academics — including former officers, diplomats, and policy experts — who bring real-world expertise into the classroom. They bridge theory with practice, ensuring that our students are prepared for all possible challenges in the modern security, intelligence, and global governance arenas.
Our Academic Pathways
At CSGS, we provide a comprehensive and progressive academic framework that empowers students to pursue excellence across all levels of higher education.
Our Bachelor of Arts in Security and Strategic Studies offers a strong foundation in global security, strategy, and defense analysis, complemented by four specializations: Risk Management, Crisis Management, Emergency Management, and Disaster Management. This multidisciplinary approach equips students with the analytical, organizational, and leadership skills required to anticipate, prevent, and respond to emerging global risks.
At the Master’s level, students can advance their expertise through programs such as Security Studies and Information Analysis, Security and Strategic Studies, and Diplomacy. These programs emphasize analytical methods, intelligence interpretation, and strategic decision-making, equipping future professionals and decision-makers to navigate complexity, synthesize information, and craft impactful policies within security and diplomatic domains.
At the Doctoral level, our PhD in Security and Global Studies represents the pinnacle of advanced scholarship and intellectual leadership. This distinguished program is designed for high-achieving scholars, policymakers, and professionals seeking to contribute original research and innovative thought to the global discourse on security and global studies. It emphasizes rigorous academic inquiry, empirical analysis, and theoretical advancement—encouraging doctoral candidates to produce research that not only deepens academic understanding but also influences real-world policy and strategic decision-making.
