Prof. Ahmed Mohammed Barak
Dear students, esteemed colleagues, alumni, and distinguished visitors,
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the College of Law at the American University in the Emirates (AUE), a vibrant academic community committed to excellence in legal education, scholarly research, professional integrity, and service to society.
At the College of Law, we believe that legal education extends far beyond the study of legislation, judicial decisions, and legal principles. It is an intellectual and professional journey that develops critical thinking, ethical judgment, persuasive communication, and a deep sense of responsibility toward justice, the rule of law, and the protection of rights and freedoms.
Our academic programs are designed to provide students with a strong foundation in legal knowledge while preparing them to respond effectively to the rapidly changing demands of the legal profession. Through undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral studies, students engage with national, comparative, and international legal systems and examine contemporary legal challenges arising from technological innovation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, economic development, sustainability, and globalization.
The College places particular emphasis on connecting legal theory with professional practice. Through case analysis, legal research, moot courts, practical training, academic conferences, and engagement with courts, government institutions, law firms, and professional associations, our students develop the competencies required to interpret the law, construct sound legal arguments, solve complex problems, and contribute responsibly to the administration of justice.
