Dr. Engy Moustafa Assistant Professor and Chairperson of Physiotherapy at College of Health Sciences in AUE with over 18 years of experience in clinical practice, academic education, and research in physical therapy and neurological rehabilitation across Egypt, KSA and the UAE. She earned her PhD in Neurological Physical Therapy from Cairo University (2019), following her Master’s (2014) and Bachelor of Science in Physical therapy excellent with Honors (2008) from the same institution. She was awarded with appreciation certificates form Cairo University for her educational and research contributions, she was also awarded by the University of Sharjah for being the best educator according to the student’s feedback, she is a Certified Physiotherapy consultant in Egypt.
Dr. Moustafa has held positions as Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy for Neurology and Neurosurgery at Cairo University and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy at the University of Sharjah, UAE. Additionally, she has worked as Physiotherapy Consultant and educational instructor in Saad Specialized hospital, Khobar, KSA. Throughout her career, she has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Neuroscience, Anatomy & Physiology for medical students, Neurological Physical therapy, Motor control, Therapeutic exercise, Exercise Physiology, Pediatric rehabilitation, Orthopedic rehabilitation, and Advanced clinical practice. Beyond teaching, she has coordinated academic courses, supervised Ph.D. and Master’s theses, and actively contributed to quality assurance, curriculum development, research committees and accreditation processes within her faculties. She has also participated in examination committees for Master’s & PhD. dissertation defenses at University of Sharjah and Cairo university, in addition to many private universities in Egypt.
Her research interests focus on neurorehabilitation, neuromodulation, neural plasticity, cognitive and motor rehabilitation, in addition to the application of advanced neuro-technologies and AI in rehabilitation. Dr. Moustafa has published extensively in high-impact Q1 & Q2 international journals indexed in Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. She is also a dedicated reviewer for several international journals, including Frontiers in Neurology, Scientific Reports, Frontiers in Neurorehailitation, European Journal of Medical Research, NeuroRehabilitation, Frontiers in Virtual Reality, and Journal of Neuroengineering and Rehabilitation, contributing to the advancement of global research in physical therapy and rehabilitation.
Dr. Moustafa is an active member in the MENA Stroke Organization, the Physical Therapy Syndicate of Egypt, and the Emirates Physiotherapy Society reflecting her ongoing commitment to professional development and service to the field. Her career is marked by a dedication to excellence in teaching, research, and clinical practice, and she continues to inspire future generations of physical therapists and researchers while shaping the landscape of physical therapy and neurological rehabilitation in the region.
