Seminar: Women and the Future Summit

An event for women’s day has been organized in collaboration with Ms. Karoline Molaeb and Dr Leslie Vandeputte. Dr Mona Al Ali is an experienced professional in the field of education and museum studies, she was invited to be a part of this event. Dr Al Ali was driven by her passion for empowering women and achieving excellence to take up a leadership role at the Badiri Education and Development Academy, the education and capacity building arm of NAMA Women. Advancement Establishment (NAMA). As Manager of Badiri, Mona Al Ali oversees the execution of a range of programs and initiatives including workshops, entrepreneurship and soft skills training, online e-learning platforms designed to enhance the theoretical and professional acumen of female entrepreneurs and harness their full potential. Mona’s vision is to act as a catalyst for Badiri’s growth into a leading and easily accessible global resource center imparting knowledge, skills and training programs geared towards empowering women and youth.

In collaboration with Ms. Amani Yassine and Engineer Mostafa Najim, physics students from the college of information technology, attended a workshop about Arduino where they enhanced their practical, programming and physics skills.

A virtual interactive workshop has been conducted by the office of advising and success center in collaboration with CEDU and COBA faculty members. It was delivered by Mr. Rajeev Daswani and Mr. Hatem ALABKI to provide students with some tips to help them to overcome the obstacles and achieve their academic and professional ambitions.
The speakers talked about finding your purpose and how to live with passion, starting with the intention: “as we need to find our inspiration within”.
– To be self-guided.
– To find direction: They used the image of the compass to emphasize the need to find our way, our star which will guide us. Lao Tzu said, ‘’if you don’t change direction, you may end up where you are heading’’. The fear of failure is the only limitation humans possess. Finally, the speakers emphasized the need to define our “why” because it gives us:
- Meaning to Life.
- Energy to live.
- Keeps us motivated.
- Excitement.
- Leverages your gifts.
Presentation: Mismatch of social values in Communication

Under the supervision of Ms. Heba Ibrahim, a poster has been designed by student Yara Yousef Omar Embarek (181220036) and student Hamda Abdulrahman Ali Malahi (171210092) from English for specific purpose and communication skills course to illustrate their thorough understanding regarding communication skills and how it is related to social values.

In collaboration with the university life instructors and Dr Rex, all university life students attended a workshop that discussed the most effective strategies and tips to deliver a successful speech and to gain long lasting presentation skills.

Under the supervision of Ms. Amani Yassine, students from Physics I and Physics II courses have shown a great passion towards physical science through designing different prototypes to be used in their daily life for multiple purposes. The projects required deep understanding and analysis of theoretical physics: Mechanics and Electromagnetism. Physics II students implemented their programming skills to operate smart machines to detect magnetic field, electric field, and to measure the capacitance of a capacitor, whereas physics I students used their problems solving and practical skills to demonstrate theoretical principles in mechanics. Workshop: My journey with ARABIC LANGUAGE
(ARL AA 100)
Under the sypervision of Dr Thaer Oudeh, students of Communications Skills in Arabic course have attended an event that is delivered by Dr. Zia AL-Rahman (from India) whose PhD is in Arabic language and Islamic civilization. The guest narrated his joyful journey with learning Arabic in his country, he briefly presented some of the books that he translated from Hindi and English into Arabic and vice versa.
His advice to the Arab students is to be keen on mastering the Arabic language and teaching it to others.
Seminar: Duality of tolerance and community cohesion

Students of Islamic Culture course attended a lecture that is organized by Mr. Jehad Mousa & Dr. Adbul Hameed in collaboration with Zayed House for Islamic Culture. The dean of the College of Education Professor Mohamad Al Zyoudi have welcomed Ms. Mouza AlKetbi which was the guest speaker during the event. Ms. Alketbi highlighted on the topics of social cohesion and tolerance and the duality between these two terms.
She explained that tolerance is the acceptance of one’s community from another’s, even if their values are contradicting. The duality of tolerance and cohesion’s main purpose is to offer equal opportunity to everyone in a society no matter what their ethnic, social, or religious background is. There are two main categories of impacts resulting from successfully integrating tolerance and cohesion, financial impacts (equal opportunity amongst people of all backgrounds) and emotional impacts (personal happiness to the people living in the society).
Presentation: Islam and preserving the environment

Under the supervision of Mr. Jehad Mousa, the student Chane Van Der Merwe (191020002) have designed a presentation for the Islamic Culture course discussing how Islam has encoureged us to preserve the environment.
“In Islam we are called to look after God’s creation which is earth also known as the environment that surrounds us. We are called to be guardians which means not only protecting the planet but influencing others to do the same.
We have a “green deen” to worship God through protecting our oceans and land and inhabitants, by doing this we are worshipping God and thanking him for what he has provided for us and for this we will be rewarded. UAE has implemented methods that will try to ensure this is carried out”.

Ghaya Younis Mehrab Alblooshi (201310024) (ASC 105)
Under the supervision of Mr. Jehad Mousa, the student Ghaya Younis Mehrab Alblooshi (201310024) have designed a presentation for the Islamic Culture course discussing the Islamic History.(“Be fair to the people from yourselves and be patient with your needs, for you are the reservoir of the parish. And do not resolve anyone from his needs, and do not lock him from his request, and do not sell people in the Kharaj clothing for a winter, no summer, or an animal on which they depend, nor a slave, and do not strike anyone with a whip for the place of a dirham”. Ali bin Abi Talib).
Presentation: Traditional Emirati Clothes for Men & Women
Khalifa Jamal (191410128) (ASC 102)
Under the supervision of Dr. Leslie Vandeputte, the student Khalifa Jamal (191410128) in the Introduction of Antropholgy course, have discribed Traditional Emirati Clothes for Men & Women. “The clothing of men is almost the same kind all across the UAE. Kandura is a very important attire for men in Abu Dhabi and also throughout the other parts of the country. Kandura is a type of long-ankle-length tunic that is worn by men and is loosely fitted in shape.The Emirati men also were Ghutra to top their outfits, It is a traditional headdress.Both Kandura and Ghutra gets a traditional touch to it when worn during festivals”. “The traditional and most important dress of women in the UAE is the plain and simple Abaya but the modern abaya are designed and presented in unique styles.
In addition to the abaya, Emirati women also wear a kind of headgear that covers their head and shoulder and covers the ear, head, and shoulder. The people of Emirates highly believe in following the customs and traditions associated with their religion”.
Presentation: Armenian Culture
Karinieh Kelejian (ASC 102)
Under the supervision of Dr. Leslie Vandeputte, the student: Karinieh Kelejian from the Introduction to Anthropology course have discribed The Armenian culture with a photo essay. Marriage is considered very unique in Armenian culture and traditions as raising a family with strong Armenian values which include open heartiness, kindness, being hospitable, religiousness and strong family values.
The traditions all initiate with prayers in church, which is the major part in every Armenian wedding.Lastly, Friends and relatives write small letters expressing their happiness for the newlyweds and giving out gifts.
Seminar: Special Education in the United Arab Emirates

In Collaboration with the College of Education of the American University of the emirates and Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, a virtual seminar entitled:“ Special Education in UAE “ has been organized by Dr. Muhammad Al-Zeyoudi, Dean of the College of Education at the University and delivered by Her Excellency Sheikha Jameela bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, Director General of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services and attended by Professor William Cornwell the Provost of AUE, Professor Abhilasha Singh the VPAA of AUE and a large number of specialists, teachers and special education students in the country. Professor Muthanna Abdul Razzaq, President and Executive Director of the University have welcomed the guest speaker that emphasized on the importance of training persons with disabilities and to implement the educational and social inclusion to empower them and improve their quality of life.
