AUE FINANCE STUDENTS WIN 1ST & 2ND PRIZE

AT THE 48 HOUR NON-STOP FINTECH HACKATHON

AUE Finance Students from College of Business Administration (COBA) took part in the Fintech Hackathon 2.0 on April 25, 26 and 27 organized by Department of Fin

ance (DOF) AbuDhabi in cooperation with BeMyApp from France. Students developed “apps” for DOF for Budgeting solutions based on Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Internet of Things (IoT). A total of 14 students from AUE/COBA took pa

rt in this Hackathon with a total of 13 teams consisting of 3-5 members. Each team pitched for 3 minutes in front of a Jury consisting of Excellencies from Department of Finance (AbuDhabi); H.E Shareefa Saeed Salem Al Jaberi and H.E Abdulaziz Hareb Al Yousuf and other Dignitaries from the Industry. All the AUE students did the presentations on behalf of their teams.

The winning students were:

Basel Ahmed Hussein Al-Basara            Team Name – DOF Chain          First Prize     AED 20,000

Mahmoud Fouad Shaban Mehaisen        Team Name – TracX                  Second Prize   AED 15,000

Winning projects on Blockchain will now be converted into “apps” and will be used by DOF.

Professor Muthanna Ghani Abdul Razzaq, President and CEO of the American University in the UAE,

congratulated the students on this achievement and rewarded them with shields.

Other teams included students from Zayed University, UAEU, Al Ain University, AbuDhabi University, Amity University, Bits Pillani University and University of Sharjah besides AUE.

All students received Certificates of Attendance and Appreciation from DOF. Winning teams were also called by the AdbuDhabi Global Markets the following day for presentations.
