Professor AbdulSattar Ahmad Al-Alusi is a Visiting Professor at the College of Business Administration. He earned his M.Sc. in Operational research from University of Southampton (UK, 1978) and his PhD in Operational Research/Management Science from Bradford School of Management, University of Bradford (UK, 1988). Professor Al-Alusi is a highly experienced educator equipped with excellent teaching, research, administrative and educational leadership skills. Overall work experience in Higher Education (HE) of more than three decades (Iraq, Jordan, Yemen, UAE, Bahrain, Oman, and UK) 19 years of it in highly competitive and multicultural UAE. In the UAE Professor Al-Alusi served as University President and CEO, University Chancellor, Vice Chancellor for Quality Affairs, Dean of College of Management and Information Systems, Director of Off-Campus Centre in Dubai and Director of Planning, Evaluation and Quality Administration, providing training and education, and consultation services locally and regionally in a wide range of settings. Professor Al-Alusi has published more than 35 Journal and Conference publications and supervised many Thesis for PhD and M.Sc.. His current research interests are in the areas of Quality in Higher Education, System Dynamics Simulation and Heuristic Optimisation, and Simulation modelling. His teaching focuses on Operations Management, Operational Research/Quantitative Methods, Strategic Management, Business Policy and Strategy, Supply Chain Management, Project Management, Quality Management, Managing Decision Making, Conflict Management, Business Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Simulation (Discrete Event & System Dynamics), and other business and management courses.
Professor Al-Alusi is a Chartered Quality Professional/ Chartered Fellow of The Chartered Quality Institute (The CQI) of UK, listed international consultant in Quality Assurance in Higher Education by the Asia Pacific Quality Network (APQN), and member of the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE). Professor Al-Alusi has a comprehensive experience in the Academic Accreditation & Licensure Standards in the UAE and Kingdom of Bahrain (BQA). In addition, Professor Al-Alusi was a key person in creating a university from concept to reality which requires vision, passion, and courage to attempt, to innovate and to deliberately create a new and improved learning culture. These work experiences have enabled Prof Al-Alusi to develop a high level of skills and expertise in Curriculum Design and Development; Creating innovative programs, extending from inception of idea, through preparing and planning, to developing and implementing and providing support structures; Hands on involvement in managerial level in delivering quality programs and working closely with the quality accreditation agencies; Extensive experience in consultation in HE.
