Rahul Malpure has Master’s Degree in Fine Arts (Animation Concentration) from University of Cincinnati, Ohio, USA and Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from University of Pune, India.
Rahul joined American University in the Emirates in 2019 as an assistant professor, teaching courses in the field of Animation and other foundation and core courses.
Prior to joining AUE Rahul was working at Zayed University for ten years as an assistant professor teaching courses in Animation, along with other supporting courses in the field of Graphic Design, Interior Design and Foundation. Before Coming to the UAE in 2006, Rahul worked as an assistant chair of Multimedia Department at ITT Technical Institute Youngstown, Ohio, USA, and also worked as a part time instructor teaching online Animation and Gaming courses for Art Institute of Pittsburgh, USA.
Rahul has extensive working knowledge in 3D computer animation using industry standard software such as Autodesk Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, after effects, etc.. He has created various 3D animation shorts in an artistic way and also on topics such as personal identity, economic development and ecology.
Rahul’s research interests are both in traditional and new technologies in Animation and interactive design. He enjoys learning new tools and techniques to enhance his skills. Currently he is also working on a DIY book on animation and gaming project. Rahul received several research grants at Zayed University to create a 3D printed praxinoscope that was presented at Innovation exhibition in Abu Dhabi a 3D printed phonotrope that was exhibited as a part of ISEA exhibition in Dubai, and to take workshops on game animation online from ianimate.net.
