Dr. Hamed Al Hashemi is an Assistant Professor at the American University in the Emirates. He is a strategist with exceptional record of accomplishments across government, energy, economic development, and healthcare industries.
He has diversified and extensive experience in strategy, foresight, scenario planning, policy making, analysis & data visualization, innovation, design thinking, competitiveness, performance monitoring and evaluation, leadership, program management, building institutional capabilities, leading complex organizational reforms, managing transformation programs, change management, organizational governance, coaching and mentoring.
He held various leadership positions across different industries. At Department of Health (Abu Dhabi, UAE), he was overseeing the strategic planning and performance monitoring of healthcare strategies, programs and operations. Sponsoring digital healthcare transformation programs including accelerated adoption of artificial intelligence, building big data analytics capacity, co-leading health information exchange across public and private healthcare facilities, AI & Innovation Lab and foresights in healthcare. Previously, he served as Director for Government Strategy and Performance at Abu Dhabi Executive Office, Executive Council of Abu Dhabi Government whereby he led whole of government transformation in policy making., strategy formulation and performance management. He also worked as the Director of Economic Policy Planning at Abu Dhabi Council for Economic Development where he participated in the five years economic development plan and industrial development plan. He conducted various development studies on special economic zones, energy tariffs, economic diversification, tourism, role of private educational schools etc. He started his career in the oil and gas industry with Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Company Ltd. (ADGAS) where he headed the development, planning and engineering divisions.
He holds a master’s in public administration from Harvard Kennedy School, an MBA from Heriot Watt University and a doctorate in Business Administration from Cranfield University.
