Dr. Dawn Bolger

Assistant Professor/Acting Program Director – Master of Security and Information Analysis, College of Security and Global Studies

Dr Dawn Bolger is currently an Assistant Professor and Acting Program Director – Master of Security Studies and Information Analysis at the American University in the Emirates. She graduated from the University of Western Sydney, Australia and holds a PhD in Politics and Policy Studies along with a Bachelor of Arts in History, Politics, Philosophy and English Literature and a Bachelor of Arts in Politics (Honours). Dr Bolger has held a variety of professional teaching and curriculum-driven roles at several institutions around Australia, including The University of New South Wales, The University of Notre Dame and Western Sydney University. In 2012, Dr Bolger was awarded the "Top 10 Academic Staff Award" by Unijobs Australia.

Between 2010-2011, Dr Bolger was a Summer Scholar at the Australian Prime Ministers Centre at Old Parliament House, Canberra where she researched the attitudes of the Menzies Government towards refugees in the post-WW2 period. In 2012, Dr Bolger was selected as one of Australia’s ‘100 Brightest Young Minds’ and received mentoring from Google Australia. Dr Bolger has presented in various international conferences and has published in the fields of education, politics and sociology. Her current research interests include international security, identity and fear politics, border politics and global security studies.
