Mr. Matthew Gilbert has a MBA and joins the College of Business Administration at the American University in the Emirates as an Instructor of management and marketing. Before AUE, he taught in the United States at UCLA and UC Santa Barbara while developing lynda.com training courses. Guided by the motto “learn continuously, live generatively” he is an enthusiastic educator with extensive practical experience as a writer, marketer and speaker.
Balancing theory with reality, his research interests intersect humanity, industry and technology. His work can be found in refereed academic journals, refereed conference publications and refereed conference proceedings. His first book, "edX E-Learning Course Development", was published in 2015 for educators designing, developing and deploying courses on the edX MOOC platform.
As a marketer, Mr. Gilbert has managed people, products and projects in the entertainment, medical, publishing, travel and technology sectors; marketing communications is his area of expertise. Recognized for his social media mastery, he provided expert witness testimony that helped resolve a noteworthy copyright infringement lawsuit.
