Dr. Wojciech Michnik is currently an Assistant Professor at the American University in the Emirates. He has taught International Relations and Security Studies at Jesuit University Ignatianum and at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. During the 2015-2016 academic year he served as a Fulbright visiting scholar at Columbia University’s Harriman Institute in New York City. Dr. Michnik holds a Ph.D. in International Relations from Jagiellonian University. During his career, he conducted research and received training in academic and policy-oriented institutions, including Boston University (research fellow); School of Advanced International Studies of Johns Hopkins University (visiting scholar); Western Washington University (visiting scholar); NATO; European Commission; Utrecht University; Kokkalis Foundation; and German Ministry of Defense. In 2014, he worked as a foreign and security policy analyst at the Department of Americas, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland. He lectured and gave talks in various institutions such as the University of Oregon; Columbia University; Gonzaga University; United States Naval War College and Polish Special Operations Forces Command.
Dr. Michnik has also been a recipient of grants and fellowships including the Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship (Tokyo Foundation) and the Fulbright Senior Award and Transatlantic Academy Grant. His main research interests include international security; US grand strategy and foreign policy; transatlantic relations and Poland’s foreign policy.
